What We Do

Pilates

Breath, Precision, Fluidity, Concentration, Centering, Control

Invented by Joseph Pilates in the early twentieth century, the Pilates Method has been helping all walks of life correct postural deviations, shape long lean muscles and uniformly develop the body as a whole. By strengthening the body’s core muscles – muscles in the abdominals, pelvis, spine and hips – Pilates helps to alleviate decompression in the joints, promote a deeper level of body awareness and create a balanced range of movement. From athletes to knee surgery patients, Pilates helps build inner strength so that every workout is more effective and everyday movement is easier.

Many students practice Pilates in its purest form on the Mat while others prefer the use of equipment such as the Reformer, Cadillac or Chair. At The Studio, we firmly believe in making this method, and the use of its equipment, available to everyBODY – not just the ones who can afford private sessions. Ask about our Sliding Scale Saturdays or book a class and experience how Pilates will change the way you move through every step of your life.

When all of your muscles are properly developed you will…perform your work with minimum effort and maximum pleasure. -Joseph Pilates

Barre

THE STUDIO by M’s Barre method incorporates fundamental principles of yoga, Pilates, isometrics, cardio, strength training, and basic ballet barre work. By utilizing a ballet barre as a prop for stability and focusing on basic functional movement, this method will torch calories and build strength without putting undue strain on bones and joints.

We believe that the more challenging the class the more fun it should be. Small class sizes provide the opportunity for students to get to know each other, support each other, and create a greater sense of community and environment for growth. Private sessions allow for focus on form and to get in deep to repertoire – with plenty of laughs and dorky dance moves.

Pranassage - Minneapolis

Prana

Passively experience the benefits of yoga.

Pranassage is a creative synthesis of bodywork and yoga that produces deep relaxation to nurture the body and mind. The recipient is passive. The therapist manipulates the recipient through a series of full body movements which stretch, massage, and nurture your body. This work opens up the flow of blocked energy, stimulating circulation to nourish the muscles and bones.

Beneficial for everyone from athletes looking to “unwind” muscle fatigue, gain greater joint mobility, and flexibility, as well as the busy professional looking to learn how to let go, relax, and get out of their head and into their body. Group or one on one sessions are always an awakening experience for both new and experienced yoga practitioners.

Pranassage is done on the floor on comfortable mats and blankets. The receiver should come in long pants (sweats/yoga pants) and a long sleeve shirt.
